MCM Ceramic Dish Fish Plate "La Rascasse" - 1960s

$75.00

Designed by the prominent French ceramicist Robert Picault for Maison Longchamp circa 1960. It features a striking black earthenware glaze decorated with fine white line work. This style is heavily influenced by the sgraffito and slip-trailing techniques popularized in southern French modernist pottery. "La Rascasse" translates to "the scorpionfish" in French and is a highly valued, spiny rockfish native to the Mediterranean Sea and a mandatory ingredient in a traditional Provençal bouillabaisse stew. Measures approximately 4 1/2" across. (1-23-26 A)
